A full-length pink robe, signed with an embroidered Dior logo. The private wardrobe of the Bohan years, less often preserved than the clothes worn in public.
This Christian Dior robe dates from circa 1979–1984. It is full length, in pink, size Petite, with an embroidered Dior logo.
The Dior signature, worn at home.
Marc Bohan was artistic director of Christian Dior from 1961 to 1989 and launched the Miss Dior, Baby Dior and Dior Monsieur lines, extending the house well beyond couture.
From 1948 Dior licensed its name across many categories. Lingerie and loungewear brought the house into the private wardrobe.
The embroidered logo carries the signature in thread. The full length and the pink colour place the robe in the softer register of Dior's at-home dressing.
A signature worked in thread.
Loungewear is kept less often than daywear, so signed Dior robes from these years are a smaller part of the surviving record.
Signed loungewear from the Paris houses draws interest for both wear and collecting.
Robes were worn regularly and seldom kept, so period Dior examples are fewer.
Visible house logos on everyday garments remain a recurring theme in fashion.
