Bridles, bits and chains arranged in strict symmetry, drawn in gold on navy silk. The tack of the stable becomes ornament.
This Gucci silk scarf dates from the 1970s. Bridles, bits, ornate chains, rosettes and medallions are arranged symmetrically in navy and gold. It is made of 100% silk in Italy and measures approximately 86 x 86 cm.

Guccio Gucci founded his business in Florence in 1921, making leather goods and luggage. Riding gave the house many of its motifs: the horsebit, first used on the loafer in 1953, and the web stripe taken from a saddle girth.
From 1960 to 1981 the illustrator Vittorio Accornero designed more than 80 scarves for Gucci, including the Flora print of 1966. Equestrian, floral and nautical themes recur across the house's silk archive.
The symmetrical layout gives the square a formal order, with gold motifs set against navy. Light wear is consistent with use.
Formal order in navy and gold.
Scarves from the 1970s show Gucci's equestrian vocabulary in its earlier printed form. This square presents it in a strict, symmetrical design.
Vintage Gucci silk scarves remain a steady category among collectors of the house.
Older silk squares often show fading or edge wear, so condition is assessed with care.
Equestrian motifs are a recognised strand of Gucci's design history.
