Tweed, patent leather and a geometric print meet on a single pointed pump. Here Versus sets a traditional fabric against graphic colour.
These Versus Versace pumps date from the early to mid-1990s. Multicoloured tweed meets black patent leather, the pointed toe carries a geometric print, and a slim patent strap is fastened with a decorative buckle. They were made in Italy, in size IT 38.
Tweed, patent and print on one shoe.
Gianni Versace launched Versus in 1989 as a younger line, overseen by his sister Donatella. The same year he opened Atelier Versace for couture.
Tweed belongs to traditional tailoring, patent leather to evening and city wear. Here they are combined with a bright geometric print on a single stiletto.
The turquoise leather lining adds a further colour inside the shoe. The pair is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear.
A further colour, inside.
Versus pieces from the Gianni Versace years continue to attract collectors of 1990s fashion. These pumps show the line's use of colour and material contrast.
Versus pieces from the 1990s continue to attract interest among collectors of the decade.
Shoes wear at the soles and heels, so pairs in excellent condition are assessed with care.
The younger lines launched by Italian houses around 1990 are a recognised part of the period.
